Power chairs provide stability for your safety, and fit almost anywhere. They are adjustable for maximum comfort.

Joystick Steering — Provides maximum control with minimal arm or hand strength. Armrests offer more support for arms and hands.

Customized Controls — Programmable to fit your abilities and dexterities.

Location

In-Home and Out-of-Home.

Turning Radius

Turning Radius as Small as 20.5".

Offers tight turning in small spaces, narrow hallways and small rooms.

Safety

Wheel Stability — Anti-tip wheels and enhanced suspension for traveling over thresholds and other uneven surfaces.

Scooter

A scooter is great if you frequently have out-of-home activities to attend to.They are larger than power chairs, with bicycle-type handlebars which require greater upper body strength and wider range ofmotion to steer.

Scooters have three or four wheels, and glide smoothly on most paved streets.

Steering

Handlebar Steering — Requires extensive use of arms, greater upper body strength and wider range of motion.

Seating

Limited Seat Adjustments — Low-back seat is less appropriate for extended daily use. Does not recline. Cannot be adapted to fit changes in your condition over time.

Programming

Standard Controls — Cannot be programmed to fit your unique needs.

Location

Limited In-Home Use.

Turning Radius

Minimum 32" Turning Radius.

Requires more space to maneuver. Cannot turn tightly.

Maneuverability

Less Maneuverable — Non-removable tiller on front of unit hinders ability to pull up to a table or desk, or transfer safely to toilets, beds, chairs, etc.

Safety

Less Stable — 3-wheel design requires more even surfaces for optimal stability and performance. Has an increased risk of tipping over.

Important Note

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires for a Power Chair or POV/Scooter to be prescribed by the beneficiary’s treating physician or practitioner. However, due to the relative safety risks associated with POV/Scooters compared to Power Chairs, The SCOOTER Store recommends that POV/Scooters be prescribed by a Rheumatologist, Neurologist, Physiatrist, or Orthopedist.
